From the end of May, our students have been working on moving the seedlings into the permaculture garden! This great moment marks the fourth and last step of the Permaculture project of the French School of Warsaw organized in cooperation with the members of the group“Varsauvons la Planète” from the association Varsovie Accueil. But do not worry, this is only the beginning of the adventure and new projects will grow next year!
The seedlings have grown since March and they were finally ready to be transplanted for the summer in our permaculture vegetable. Until then, the seedlings were protected from the weather hazards in small greenhouses. These greenhouses allowed the seedlings to grow by generating heat for several weeks.
Our school pupils from CE1 to CM2 lent a hand to prepare the plots, transplant the seedlings, pamper them, and water them. Real farmers in the making!
Beautiful sprouts are expected this year and the children will accompany in their growth radishes, peas, beans, cauliflower, kale, broccoli, tomatoes, carrots, spinach, salads, herbs, zucchini, strawberries, and raspberries. Enough to prepare a magnificent menu! The bees will also have a king’s menu with nasturtiums, dahlias, and marigolds. Something for everyone to enjoy!
